Coinstar partners with German hypermarket retailer

Coinstar has partnered with the German retailer, Real Hypermarkets, to bring coin-counting kiosks to consumers, according to a press release. With the additional 270 Real installations, Coinstar will have more than 2,350 kiosks across Germany, the U.K. and Ireland and an additional 17,000 kiosks in North America

Coinstar kiosks are rolling out at Real stores across the country, and all 270 locations are expected to be installed by mid-year. The kiosks offer coin-to-cash functionality and accept Euro coins of all denominations.

«We're very pleased to bring this convenient self-service coin counting service from Coinstar to our hypermarkets across Germany,» Christian Gruentjens, head of lease management for Real, said in the press release. «We continually look for ways to create added value for our customers and believe this service will help real shoppers tap into increased spending power, while eliminating cumbersome coin that may simply sit idle.»
