Wirecard, Garmin partner to power contactless payments via smartwatch

Wirecard is partnering with Garmin to offer Garmin smartwatch owners a digital payment experience through Wirecard's flagship product, boon, according to a press release

Garmin smartwatch users in France, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. can add their digital boon cards to Garmin Pay and make purchases with their Garmin vívoactive 3 or Garmin Forerunner 645 smartwatches wherever MasterCard contactless is accepted.

Users can set up boon in the Garmin Wallet on eligible smartwatches by following simple steps in the Garmin Connect mobile app, the release said.

To pay, the user calls up the controls menu on the Garmin device to access the wallet. When the boon card shows up on the screen, the user holds the watch against the payment terminal until a payment confirmation appears on the screen.
