The 1st biometric SIM card issuing kiosk created on the basis of the SAGA devices

The first fully functional automatic self-service SIM card issuing kiosk with biometric identification of customer has been created on the basis of the devices made by the SAGA Companies Group and has already been put in service

The self-service device named the SIM card issuing kiosk was installed in the Vnukovo airport by the Tele2 mobile network operator.

The mobile network operators are pioneers in the sphere of client service automation. The payment kiosks are well known to the clients since the beginning of 2000-s, but the SIM card vending has been inacceptable because of the Communications Act which requires obligatory client authentication.

The new SIM card issuing kiosk is equipped with the high-technology passport scanner which is used in more than 100 countries around the world, including the passport check-points in the international airports, according to the Tele2 reports. The system scans the identity document in visible light, infrared and ultraviolet ranges, this closes the door to the use of photocopies, prints and other counterfeits.

The 3D camera installed in the device compares the image of the customer’s face with the photo in the document, this feature renders the use of other person’s passport impossible.

According to Tele2, the new hardware-software system performs the biometric authentication of a client, this makes it possible to sign an agreement and issue a SIM card without help of a salesperson. Therefore, the fully functional automatic device for mobile operators’ customers support has been put in service.
