You can now buy your coffee, Slurpee, beef jerky or anything else you'll find on the shelf at a 7-Eleven c-store using Apple Pay and Google Pay

The two mobile payment systems are now deployed at 7-Eleven stores across the country in response to evolving consumer preferences, according to a press release.

«Frictionless experiences are the future, and digital payments are key to such experiences,» Gurmeet Singh, chief digital officer and chief information officer at 7-Eleven, said in the release. «Consumers prefer shopping at retailers that offer digital payment capabilities.»

The news comes at a time when across the board are busy striving to meet customer expectations with new payment and delivery options. It also comes one month after wholesale giant Costco rolled out Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay.

The convenience chain is also busy pushing out its proprietary 7-Eleven NOW smartphone app into select U.S. markets.

Recently, Tokyo-based Seven Bank announced that its new ATMs at 7-Eleven stores were attracting 30 percent less traffic than the bank had projected. Now the question is whether rollout of the Pays will further reduce ATM visits at the c-store chain.
