A five-minute, kiosk-based CPR training program is as valuable a teaching tool as a 30-minute facilitator-led training session, according to research from the American Heart Association

The study, published in Annals of Emergency Medicine, compared CPR performance skills of those who learned by visiting the kiosk; by watching a one-minute public service announcement video; and by participating in classroom training. It is the first study to assess the effectiveness of kiosk-based training for hands-only CPR, according to a press release.

Researchers found that those watching the video scored lower than the classroom group, but that there was no significant difference in scoring between the classroom and kiosk participants.
