NEC combines NEC Display Solutions with Sharp in joint venture

NEC Corp. will create a joint venture by combining NEC Display Solutions with Sharp Corp. Through the venture, the companies will be able to meet the digital signage needs of global customers, according to a press release.

«This joint venture between Sharp and NEC Display Solutions will bring even greater value and benefits to customers and partners by extending our state-of-the-art product portfolios together with a range of professional service offerings,» Hisatsugu Nakatani, president, NEC Display Solutions, said in the release. «Sharp and NEC Display Solutions follow the same strategic approach to the future of visual solutions, focusing on superior customer satisfaction enabled by high quality products, sales leadership excellence and committed relationship building.»

Through this venture, Sharp will gain a 66% equity in NEC Display Solutions while NEC will maintain the other 34%. The transfer is expected to be complete on July 1.
