Dallas to buy temperature check kiosks for public facilities

The Dallas City Council approved a nearly $900,000 contract to buy 100 touchless kiosks that would take people's temperatures before allowing them to enter high volume city facilities, according to a Fox 4 report. The kiosks will be provided by Wello Inc., based in North Texas.

A person will walk up to the kiosk and align their eyes in the circles to trigger the temperature check. If the temperature is below the threshold set by the client, the person receives a badge that allows them to enter the facility. The system sends an alert for persons not authorized to enter the facility.

City officials said four kiosks will be placed at Dallas Love Field, but could also be used at recreation centers, courts, libraries and city hall.
