Transaction Network Services recently launched a new secure cloud service, TNSConnect Cloud, that gives merchant acquirers, processors and payment terminal estate owners the ability to connect their cloud services to the global payments ecosystem, according to a press release.

TNSConnect Cloud facilitates the delivery of payment transactions from a device to the terminal, driving hosts within the cloud environment. This cloud solution, which is PCI DSS compliant, was exclusively designed for the payments industry and offers service level agreements over multiple carriers, removing the risk of trying to juggle multiple connections by routing around cloud outages or individual telcos.

«When employing connectivity to the cloud that hasn't been specifically designed for sensitive payments data, there are increased vulnerabilities and a risk that the POS terminal data could be delayed by a carrier outage or breached by an unauthorized third party,» Bill Versen, chief product officer at TNS, said in the press release. «These events can be extremely detrimental to the customer experience, business revenue and firm reputation, and negate the competitive advantage which deploying cloud services brings.»

Versen said the he expects the transition of companies moving to the cloud solution to grow further as legacy on-premise operations evolve over time. He also said that TNSConnect Cloud allows customers to select a preferred vendor which will help bridge the gap between the cloud service environment and the world of terminal deployment.

«We expect this transition to grow further as legacy on-premise operations evolve over time,» Versen said.
