Bank of America has installed the nation's first solar-powered remote ATM in Woodbridge, Virginia. The drive-up ATM is located at 14527 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge, according to a Woodbridge Patch report.

The ATM is the first of three solar-powered stand-alone ATMs BoA plans to bring online before the end of the year.

The ATMs are part of BoA's onsite solar initiative to incorporate solar power into the design standards for its new remote ATMs. The bank plans to institute more than 60 solar panel installations that will generate more than 25 megawatts of renewable energy that will directly power the bank's operations, according to the report.

Nationwide, solar installations are already operational in more than eight of Bank of America's financial centers and office locations.

The financial institution is also working to reduce water usage and bring more electric vehicle charging stations to financial centers and work facilities.
