The results of the annual conference «Embedded technologies 2015» are summarized: it became even more interesting and presentable

The SAGA company traditionally participated in the conference as a partner and introduced its novelties on the show-bench

On May 27 in Moscow the VIII annual conference «Embedded Technologies 2015» took place. This year the main unifying topic of the conference was the concept of the Internet of Things. The event was arranged by the Quarta Technologies company, a recognized leader of the Russian IT-market in the segment of embedded technologies, with the assistance of Microsoft. Among the sponsors of the conference were the largest international and Russian companies – Intel, Shuttle, Advantech, Congatec, Kaspersky Laboratory, Sensor Systems, AOpen, Motion View, Qlik.

More than 450 technical experts and chief executives of the companies developing the purpose-designed intellectual devices took part in the event. Also there were the representatives of banks, retailing networks, industrial enterprises, advertisement business, medical and educational institutions and anyone who is interested in box solutions based on the modern technologies.

Within the framework of the business part of the conference more than 20 reports have been rendered. The opinions of Microsoft and Intel on the Internet of Things development and the strategy of work within this concept were presented to the delegates. The guests of the conference acquainted themselves with the capabilities and versions of the Windows 10 IoT, Microsoft Azure cloud technologies and the hardware solutions for IoT from Advantech, Congatec, Cisco and other well-known companies. The reports by Dmitry Marchenko, Microsoft and Sergey Golovanov, spokesman of the Kaspersky Laboratory, attracted special interest of the delegates. The member of the Skolkovo Fund’s IT-cluster Ivan Kireev told about the major technological trends and conditions of the IoT development in Russia, as well as about the government business assistance.

In the afternoon the engineers and technical experts of Quarta Technologies, Qlik and National Instruments delivered their reports. They told about the creation of applications in the philosophy of Universal Windows Apps, about the examples of use of the Microsoft Azure computing services for creation of scalable computing systems, about the capabilities of Qlik as a platform for the development of applications for data analysis, demonstrated the capabilities of the LabVIEW graphic programming environment and the National Instruments hardware in respect to the concept of the Internet of Things, based on the real-time controllers, embedded systems with RIO architecture and the Windows Embedded operating system. Igor Merkulov, the director general of the Sensor Systems Company, unveiled the TouchInform – the software system which enables to create, fill and edit any interactive informational system.

The show of the intellectual devices and solutions by the largest Russian and foreign manufacturers traditionally attracted strong interest of the visitors. This year more than 30 companies took part in the show, including Intel, Advantech, Congatec, Shuttle, Kaspersky Laboratory, Sensor Systems, Qlik, MotionView, Aquarius, Zorgtech, SMT Engineering, Nienschanz-Automatics, SFOUR, RTSoft, IPDROM, AOPEN, Polymedia, Invend, Prosoft, SAGA Technologies, Pilot, ETegro Technologies, Tornado, National Instruments, Vocord, ATOL. The companies introduced both box solutions and software-hardware components for creation of modern «smart» devices.

This year the unique trait of the conference was the area of industry business solutions within the «Smart city» concept. The solutions for transportation, medical service, education, retailing and hotel businesses were presented to the visitors. The leading Russian companies such as Space Team, Aquarius, Microtech, Vocord, Technocom, Polymedia, MotionView, Sensor Systems, Prestigio, Inpas, SMT Engineering, Electronic Money.

Totally there are more than 120 devices operating on the Windows Embedded in the show area including payment and informational kiosks, ATMs, cash desks, POS-terminals, digital signage solutions, electronic fitting room, photo booth, instamat, automatic parcel terminal, ECG mobile system, bedside monitors, intellectual bus stop, ticket kiosk, video surveillance system, educational tablet computers, electronic library server etc.

The pitch session was arranged for the first time ever. The members of the RVK OJSC, state fund of funds and the institute of development of the Russian Federation watched the presentation of the Russian upstarts in the field of the Internet of Things and «smart» devices. Following the results of negotiations, the members of RVK offered to five companies to take part in the acceleration program, one company was advised to apply to the assistance fund to receive a grant for development its intellectual property and creation of a prototype. The others were recommended to prepare materials for arranging additional meetings, because the technologies which form the basis of these projects, are of the utmost interest for the RVK LLC.

The majority of visitors noted the innovatory format of the event, informal atmosphere and excellent organization. That’s why the Embedded Day draws such wide and significant audience every year. The permanent visitors noted that this year there were many new people, this suggests that the topics discussed at the conference are important and of current interest of the Russian companies, both manufacturers and customers, to the concept of the Internet of Things and modern intellectual devices made in Russia.
