Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, installed five SIM-terminals in the Moscow underground. The device with biometric face identification system can make SIM-card issuing fully automatic and enable reliable subscriptions

Tele2 installed the branded SIM-card vending devices in five stations of Moscow underground: Arbatskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kurskaya, Paveletskaya and Pushkinskaya. Thus, the company increased the total number of terminals up to 7: the first SIM-card vending device had been installed in the Vnukovo airport right before the main football event of the year, the second – in the Domodedovo airport in August.

The SIM-terminals installed in summer subscribe twice as more subscribers than an office or a module situated in the railway station or airport. Herewith, one such point of sale can save Tele2 more than 1 million rubles in comparison with an ordinary mobile shop. The SIM-card vending terminals have already brought service to the users from 95 countries.

The Tele2 SIM-terminals «speak» Chinese as well as Russian and English. This is due to big number of visitors from the Celestial Empire: 155 thousand visitors from China came to Moscow from January to June, this is 20 percent more than last year.

The basis of the system is the PENTA Scanner® Cube², the special passport scanner, which is used in 100 countries around the world. The client applies the passport page to the scanner which reproduces the document in three ranges. The Installed 3D-camera compares the photo with the client’s face, then the client applies the second passport page, the module recognizes the text and fills the service contract. The user checks the electronic version of the document and accepts it if it is correct. After this the window for electronic signature appears on the display. The client signs on the display and the system compares the signature with the sample in the passport. Then the terminal sends the signed contract via SMS and issues the SIM-card.

Now the SIM-terminal issues the cards for free. The «My Tele2» tariff with 50 rubles is set by default. A new subscriber can change the tariff and activate additional options in the Personal Account using the USSD-command or in the operator’s office.

Igor Maystrenko, sales and mass sector development director:

«Tele2 has always paid much attention to the quality of coverage in the Moscow underground as in the transport system of great importance, which serves more that 8.5 million passengers daily. We are the first operator that has covered all the stations of Moscow underground with LTE network, and the installation of our terminals in the traffic lines of Moscow underground is a consistent follow-on of the development of our infrastructure in the underground. The very first results of this complex showed the efficiency of the new retail concept: it gives twice as more subscriptions that a traditional office in an airport or railway station. We expect that the new terminals in the underground will be demanded by the passengers. This is the convenience of the SIM-terminal installed on the way of perspective customer that can make the customer choose Tele2. Along with this, we continue to offer subscriptions on special terms: a customer gets the SIM-card free of charge with 50 rubles balance. This is a welcome set which can be customized.»
