Amalgamated Banks of South Africa announced it is using a nanotechnology solution to combat the spread of the coronavirus at its ATMs. The solution is a water-based photocatalyst, which means it is activated by a light source and does not require constant reapplication, according to a report in Mybroadband.com

Once applied, the solution is long-lasting and eliminates the need for constant cleaning of the ATMs with harsh chemical materials, according to the bank.

Absa stated it has been committed to the health and safety of its customers and colleagues at its branches and facilities from the start of the pandemic by posting social distancing posters and floor markers, using sanitizers and wearing masks in the bank.
