Verner Elementary School has unveiled a book vending machine as part of its «Reading Across America Week» observation, according to a report from triblive.com.

Located in the Riverview School District in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, the school's vending machine was supplied by bookvending.com and accepts specialized tokens, which students earn by reading and reviewing a book, according to the report.

«My fifth graders were guessing playground equipment, new computers and such,» Shannon Kahne, fifth grade English language arts teacher at Verner Elementary, said in the report. «They were excited about the reveal and were picking out the books... It was a lot of fun, and we wanted to make this vending machine fit in with an elementary school.»

The machine was funded by a partnership between the PTA and Oakmont Bakery.
