The POWERCOM uninterruptable power units are taking on the terminal market

300 SAGA terminals accepting payments for parking are equipped with POWERCOM UPS units

The POWERCOM UPS are used to protect the touch terminals (parking ticket machines) designed to accept payments for parking in cash and cash-free, as well as for other payments. The project was administered by the SAGA Technologies (SAGA Technologies JSC) – the leading Russian supplier of self-service devices and software-hardware solutions in the field of payment systems, processing and global access systems.

The network protected with the POWERCOM UPS unites 300 SAGA parking terminals. The manufacturer has chosen the POWERCOM solutions for protection of the terminals from power failures on the assumption of traditional quality-price ratio and because of the vendor’s nuanced approach to the partner’s needs and its capability to produce a special series of UPS.

The network is protected by the POWERCOM UPS units of the Raptor RPT-600AP SE2 (special edition), with 600VA / 360W power output, made in Tower form-factor. The special lot of UPS for the project is equipped with thermal fuse. It protects from overheat and fire outbreak the device including the microchips and electrical elements on the electric board as well as the wires itself. If the current rate exceeds the limit the fuse melts and the circuit breaks, protecting the equipment. As a result, the repair and maintenance of the unit costs less and in case of any incident it is necessary only to change the fuse.

The uninterruptible power unit is connected to all essential components of the device: the control computer, PIN-code keypad, card reader, touch screen, thermal printer, coin acceptor, parking cards reading and issuing device. This helps to ensure the correct shutdown and recovery of the terminal after extended power cuts.

The use of the POWERCOM equipment for protection of the self-service devices becomes a market trend. On the one hand, it reflects increased focus of manufacturers and operators of terminals on their stable operation, which requires efficient protection of all electrical and mechanical components and computers from voltage changes, also they are focused on the capability to complete transactions with cash and cards even in case of full power off.
