Dispension wants automated beer vending machines in stadiums across Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia company Dispension's owners are working to get automated beer vending machines into stadiums across the country, according to a Global News report.

First, a kiosk will scan the patron's government-issued photo ID to verify age, then it will collect payment and dispense the selected can of beer. The cans must be served with the tabs already pulled to meet legal requirements. The vending machines can also be customized to limit the amount of alcohol sold.

«Typically, during a hockey game, for example, everyone is trying to buy a beer at the same time. (This would increase) the number of points of sale where can get people back to their seats with a cold beer in their hand,» said Corey Yantha, Dispension's founder, in an interview with Global News. «We'd love to see them here in Nova Scotia, and there's certainly a need here in Halifax.»

The company already beta-tested the vending machines at the 2022 MLB All-Star game in Los Angeles, but it has yet to operate in Canada.
