NCR Corp. and Union Bank of the Philippines have announced the unveiling of the first prototype branch under the bank's digital transformation strategy

The branch in Makati City features the NCR Interactive Teller and introduces the customer to a world of touchscreens, augmented reality and digital interaction, according to a press release.

The Interactive Teller will allow UBP's centrally located staff to remotely deliver 90 percent of the teller services typically available at a traditional branch, with expanded hours.

The NCR SelfServ 83 dispenses cash, accepts cash and check deposits, and offers a broad range of other services, such as bill payment, funds transfer, mobile phone top-up and mini-statements, according to the release. The larger SelfServ portfolio includes intelligent cash deposit and recycling options, multicurrency deposit, remote download of templates and scalable check deposit.

The addition of NCR Interactive Teller will allow UBP customers to supplement live, in-branch service with remotely located assistance for complex transactions. The teller has the ability to take remote control of the machine to perform cash deposit and dispense, transfer funds between accounts, enable cash withdrawal beyond daily limits and carry out cash or check acceptance without a card.

«We are excited to deliver innovative self-service technologies that assist pioneering banks such as UnionBank to transform customer experiences and leverage optimal staff productivity, while maintaining a personal touch with their customers,» Jose Resendiz, vice president and general manager of NCR Financial Services, said in the release.
