Shake Shack moves ahead with self-order kiosks

Shake Shack is moving forward with testing of self-serve, cashless kiosks in combination with cashiers, and is exploring a mobile ordering app, according to the company’s second quarter financial report

CEO Randy Garutti told analysts that five of the restaurants are currently offering a hybrid ordering system with both cashiers and kiosks, according to Eater. He said the company still has a lot to learn going forward with cashless kiosks, but added that the hybrid format might be deployed in areas such as Seattle and the Bay Area where labor costs are high.
