The DivDat Kiosk Network has added the 36th District Court in Detroit to its no-fee kiosk network. Individuals can now pay fees and fines owed to the court on 50 kiosks around the Detroit metro without having to travel to the downtown courthouse

According to a press release, the 36th District Court is one of the busiest in the state of Michigan and the first in the state to use the DivDat Network for payment of court tickets, fees and fines.

To make a payment, kiosk users either type in their name or scan the barcode on their driver's license, which automatically brings up any balances owed. The DivDat kiosks are linked in real time with the court's case management system in order to provide amounts owed and printed or emailed payment receipts.

«The 36th District Court is embracing this technology to make payment methods more convenient for people and potentially increase collections,» Chief Judge Nancy Blount said in the release.

In addition to potentially increasing collections, the program will help the court reduce costs of collections and provide other ancillary savings, according to DivDat.

The 36th District Court is the latest agency to join the DivDat network, which is used by approximately 100,000 Detroit-area residents per month to pay DTE Energy and Detroit Water bills; Wayne County delinquent taxes or current city taxes; personal property taxes; renter's escrow program and many other programs, the press release said.
