NEC Display Solutions of America Inc. has announced the launch of NEC ALP, an analytics platform that provides real-time content and data measurement information for retailers, according to a press release

The platform, which will be available starting in January, combines advanced video analytics and expertise in digital signage to provide big data, content matching and relevant content to retailers.

«With NEC ALP, we're giving retailers the ability to provide customers with a personalized experience through real-time relevant content triggered by demographic data such as age and location,» Richard Ventura, vice president of strategy at NEC Display Solutions, said in the release.

The company developed a new back-end architecture for the NEC ALP platform using both edge and cloud computing, according to the release. The system uses facial recognition to provide nonidentifying information, such as age and gender, which is fed into a local computing appliance and triggers the display of appropriate content.

Data is later delivered into the cloud, providing insights such as sales impact, demographics, audience traffic and customer engagement.

NEC worked with several partners to develop the BrightSign platform, including Navori and StratosMedia, on the content management system, and Microsoft Azure and Intel for infrastructure.
