The City of Lansing, Michigan has replaced 80 coin operated parking meters with solar powered pay stations as part of a five-year plan in partnership with Flowbird, according to a press release.

The upgrade will allow motorists to pay for parking using a credit card, cash, coin or via mobile app. In December, an additional 56 Strada Pay Stations will be installed to complete the replacement of single space meters downtown.

The pay stations feature a large color screen and customized software interface. The kiosks function in pay-by-plate mode, instructing users to input their license plate number and parking duration. Enforcement is done wirelessly so there is no need for users to display their receipt on their dashboard.

Each Flowbird pay station is managed using Flowbird's back-office platform, which creates detailed analysis reports.

Currently, Flowbird supports over 40,000 parking pay stations for 600 customers throughout the U.S.
