BCRS collected 214M containers for recycling

The Beverage Container Refund Scheme collected 214 million beverage containers in its reverse vending machines for recycling in 2023 in Malta. This amounts to more than 9,500 tons of plastic, canned and glass containers, according to a report by Malta Today.

With this effort, the BCRS was able to collect 80% of the Maltese market for these containers, surpassing the 70% mandate.

The scheme used machines that can accept 9,000 containers at various locations in Malta.
