Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre's Emergency Department in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada has implemented a self-service kiosk system to make the check-in process more efficient as well as protect patient privacy, according to a Muskoka 411 report.
When patients arrive at the ED, they can scan their health card, enter information about their health concerns and take a numbered ticket from the kiosk to enter the queue. The information is then automatically integrated into RVH's electronic medical record system then made immediately available to triage nurses.
«We are excited about the implementation of kiosks in the ED,» Ray Howald, RVH emergency department manager, told the news outlet. «This is only the beginning when it comes to utilizing this technology, and we envision enhancements further integrations to continue improving patient flow, patient experience and positively impacting ED wait times.»
