Japan's convenience store chain, Lawson, is offering customers more than just the ability to withdraw cash from its in-store ATM machines. The chain has reconfigured its terminals with a user interface that features fonts, visuals and actual voices of cast members from the popular anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion, according to a report in SoraNews24.

The franchise of Neon Genesis Evangelion began in 1995 with its titular TV series. It has since continued in various forms, most notably the Rebuild of Evangelon series. The movie, Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, which is set to be the last installment of the story, was due to be released in Japanese theaters later this month, but due to a resurgence of COVID-19 throughout Japan, the premiere has been delayed indefinitely.

Lawson chose to move ahead with the marketing and promotion of the movie despite the delay of the film. Anime fans using the Lawson ATMs can hear one of three popular character voices when making a transaction.
