The government of India, in partnership with a business accelerator, has developed and deployed a vending machine that requires biometric identification to dispense grain allotments, according to a biometricupdate.com report.
Beneficiaries authenticate their eligibility with biometrics and use their Aadhaar ration card to claim eligibility. Aadhaar is a unique biometric identification number the government issues to all India residents.
The Annapurti automated grain dispensing solution, known as the «Grain ATM,» dispenses grain allotments around the clock. It can dispense 70 kilograms of grain in five minutes.
The machines dispense grain in Fair Price Shops in Odisha and Haryana.
